Wine Down with Old Friends

Last night I went to Wine Down Wednesday at the Tavern with two of my best friends from high school, Hollie and Kelly. It has been forever since the three of us had a night out together! We had soooo much fun talking about old times, life now, and things to come. I met them there at 6:00, and before I knew it the clock said 11:00! It seemed like we had only been there for 30 minutes. We talked about how the best kind of friends are the ones who really know you and "still love you!". We have been through so much and had the times of our lives. Ofcourse, we adore all of our newer friends and love our present lives, but there is no other time like high school! Old boyfriends, "why did you let me DO that!!??!!", crazy fights, spring breaks, senior cruises, sharing clothes... I love you Hollie Weaver and Kelly Bagwell!!!

For my high school friends...I miss y'all!

My Well Babies

Daniel and Caroline had their well baby check-ups with Dr. Dudgeon this morning. All went well, thanks to crowd control help from Gran! As you will see in the pictures beneath this entry, my kids LOVE Dr. Dudgeon and going to the doctor is never a source of hard feelings for them (THANK YOU Danette!!). Daniel weighs 41 pounds and 6 ounces and is 41.5 inches tall. He passed his hearing and vision exams and was wonderfully brave for his Hep. A shot. Dr. Dudgeon bragged on him for knowing pool and bicycle safety rules and complemented him on his good eating and teeth brushing habits. For those of you who do not know, Daniel loves fish, veggies, and fruits. He will only drink water, and occasionally milk. He refuses to drink anything with "bubbles" and will not touch chips, pizza, or french fries. This is usually great except for when he is at a birthday party or someone's house who is offering him one of these typically child-pleasing foods and he won't partake!! He has just ventured into the world of chicken nuggets...who knows what will be next...mac-n-cheese?!
Caroline also got a good report. She is 28.5 inches long (75%), weighs 19 pounds and 9.5 ounces (60%), and her head circumference is 17.5 inches (60%). She is doing fantastic developmentally. She will already say bye bye! She too was wonderfully brave for her shots, and the big morning sent her straight to sleep on the car ride home. I am so thankful for my "well babies."

Happy Father's Day!

First, let me say Happy Father's Day to all of you fabulous dads reading this! I hope that your day was filled with as much love and joy as ours. Daniel could not wait until today to give Matt his presents, so he actually opened them last weekend! Caroline gave him a pair Sperry boat shoes and a bathing suit, Daniel gave him some workout clothes (and a golf ball that he found in his room and put into the gift bag), and I gave him a new pair of dress pants and some dress socks.
My sweet hubby is always thinking of others--even on his special day! He and Daniel got up early and went to Pe Paw's (his dad) to mow his grass for him. They took donuts over and enjoyed a morning there while Caroline and I got ready for church. After they got back and dressed, we headed to church where Daniel worked very hard in Sunday School making daddy the perfect Father's Day card. After church, we headed to Outback for a yummy steak dinner. Next, Caroline took her nap at Gran's while Matt, Daniel, and I headed to the Country Club for a fun afternoon at the pool. We splashed, sprayed, and had margaritas (just Matt and I--Daniel had popsicles!) by the pool with our friends the Kramers. Daniel played so hard that he came home and went to nap around 5, and he is still out now at 9:00! Matt says he thinks he is out for the count! Matt ended his Father's Day laying on the couch watching golf. I think he had a pretty good day!

Happy Father's Day! (When you tell Daniel to say cheese, he takes you seriously!)

One "Powerful" Week!

Daniel has just finished a wonderful week of Vacation Bible School at our church. He had an awesome time! The theme was "Power Lab" and it celebrated the power of the Lord. The biblical theme was centered around science (which the teacher in me LOVED!). They did several science experiments, sang and danced, did crafts, and learned so much. Daniel's teacher (which he said was a scientist, not a teacher) did an excellent job teaching him the religous as well as scientific aspects of her lessons. He came home each day excited about what he had learned that day. He would say "I can't wait to see what we learn and make tomorrow mom!" I only pray that his teachers in school will be such an inspiration. Thursday night there was a family dinner to see pictures from the week and hear our children perform some of the songs they had learned that week. I LOVE hearing him sing praises to the Lord with such enthusiasm! We had a great time, and Daniel was excited to spend some time playing with his friends and singing. He was a bit disappointed that they did not sing their songs on stage. There were simply too many children to fit (which is great!). Gran also bought him a CD with the music from the week, and he just has to sing along with it every day (several times!!!). I feel so blessed that we are a part of a church that is so "powerful" in its ability to reach my child!

Singing for Sis

This was too cute--I just had to share it with everyone. Daniel loves to sing/say nursery rhymes to Caroline. She loves to hear them too. When she was stationary, she used to sit and smile up at him through the whole thing. Now that she is older, she tends to play and/or crawl away before he is finished! Even so, he still sings his sweet little heart out for his "sis"!!

PCB Bound!

This past weekend we headed down to Panama City Beach to visit with Matt's sister and her family. We had a great time! We arrived around 8:00 Friday night and finally got all of the kids to bed around 10:00. We did not get a babysitter, but we had an awesome time enjoying cocktails and chatting on their porch until around after 1:00 Sat. morning! We love visiting Jason and Amanda. They are so much fun! The next day we headed over to the pool for the morning and the guys went to play golf that afternoon. The boys and Kate were busy washing Will's F-150 to get ready for a night out on the town (or around the neighborhood...) Jason grilled us some yummy steaks and we headed to bed a bit earlier (we are not as young as we used to be!). Sunday we went to the pool again and then headed to an awesome new shopping/restaurant extravaganza called Pier Park. We are going to have to go back and spend a day there! Thanks Amanda and Jason for a wonderful weekend. We can't wait to hang out again soon!

Oh, come on...we are too cute to send to bed!

This is Caroline's new smile...soooo funny!

Dog Days of Summer

We have been super busy the past week! Our days have been filled with water fun at the swimming pool, the gym, the library, and the park. We are already tan because our favorite place is the coolest place--the pool! I think that Caroline has the most beautiful skin--she is a lucky girl! Daniel's eyes stand out even more when he is tan. They somehow seem even more clear blue. I am loving being able to spend all of this time with the two of them. Believe it or not, they actually LIKE spending time together! I am sure it won't stay this way!! It is quite different than this fall and spring when D was in school part time. We just don't realize how long 9-1 really is! I think my sweet hubby realized how much work having two kids all day long is, because he surprised me with a dozen beautiful red roses this week to say thank you for taking such good care of the kids! It really meant a lot to me, because often the stay at home mom profession is not respected or appreciated very much. I must admit that when I was working, I underestimated it myself!
We are headed to Panama City Beach for the weekend to visit with Matt's sister Amanda and her family. They have a little girl that is a bit over a year old and a little boy close to Daniel's age. We are planning to hang out at the pool (and the guys will play some golf OFCOURSE!), drive some race cars (which Daniel discovered he LOOVES in the mountains), and maybe get a sitter so that the four of us can go out as adults Saturday night.
I'll post some pics as soon as I can--Matt has the camera in the SUV. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Oh, and Happy Birthday Carrie! Sorry I could not make the party last night--hope you were surprised and that you love your new stroller!

Daniel is excited to see Dino-man!

Caroline can't wait to see what this is all about

The one and only...Dino-man!!! (we left early b/c it was a bit lame!)

Caroline has just arrived at the pool and is ready to splash and sun!

Daniel LOOOVES the water rocket!
